Organization Name

Description

In FA, SaaS, it is possible to create catalog groups in OBIEE to manage catalog permission. In OACS Classic, it is not yet feasible to create catalog groups to manage catalog security. Attached in the Idea Lab shows the difference in Administration capabilities between both applications.

FA - OBIEE > Administration > "Manage Catalog Groups"

OACS Classic > Administration > TBD

Use Case and Business Need

a. Creating catalog groups to manage folder security when roles across user groups are not  the same

b. Creating catalog groups to manage access to folders by groups instead of individual users

More details

To follow up on this idea, the allowed ACL size in OACS classic is '64'. For clients with more than 64 roles, it creates issues managing access to catalog effectively, especially if they are implementing multiple pillars - FIN/HR. A catalog group functionality, like in FA OBIEE, would reduce the number of roles to be managed in a folder and reduce the risk of meeting the '64' ACL limit
