Currently OAC is connecting to Snowflake using service account and password . But our security team restricting username and password method of authentication . They want all applications to use key pair authentication to connect to snowflake . But OAC don't support that feature now .

We would like to request that enhancement as to be compliant with security and compliance policies .

This is a very high priority requirement. Due to recent Snowflake data breaches which were all originated from mishandled user credentials, our Information security is mandating us to use key-pair based authentication for all Snowflake integrations. We enabled key-based auth on all our integrations except Oracle.

Oracle uses Snowflake JDBC driver behind the scene and Snowflake JDBC driver support key based auth. But unfortunately Oracle connection UI is not providing an option to switch from password to key-based. This enhancement should allow us to punch in a username, passphrase(masked) and upload a private key. Please elevate the priority of this feature request.

Curremtly we connect to snowflake from our OAC using password based authentication. Due to security reasons, We wanted to use RSA key based authentication to connect to Snowflake.

Can you please expedite this enhancement?

Please let us know if you know by when you may able to release key based authentication feature?

Any update on the availability of passphrase credentials for OAC to Snowflake? We have multiple customers who will need this when Snowflake transitions away from password based service accounts.

@Alan Lee - Oracle-Oracle - Do we have any roadmap planned for Key Pair authentication for Snowflake? Password authentication will be deprecated by Nov 2025 as per release from Snowflake.

Agree. This is a significant issue for my customer and it is crucial that Oracle makes a statement on when the key pair capability will be available for Snowflake connections. Customer is on OAS and will need this for the RPD connection pools.

  • Yes, key pair auth for Snowflake is on the plan. No target timeframe at this time.

Snowflake will deprecate password based authentication soon. Oracle has to prioritize this request to avod any impact to ongoing customer integrations and aiding platform security.

    Hi Team,

Snowflake will change password based authentication soon to key pair authentication model. Oracle has to prioritize this request to reduce any impact caused by this to customer
